An Australian woman who hired a male escort so she could lose her virginity at the age of 43 is now turning to dating apps in hopes of finding her dream man.
Melanie Hawkes, who works as a video editor, suffers from an inflammation of the spinal cord known as transverse myelitis and has used a wheelchair since childhood.
After shutting out the possibility of sex for most of her life, while in isolation due to Covid-19, she made a promise to herself that when she was able to go out again, she was going to lose her virginity and address the anxieties she had about sex as a disabled person.
So, in January of this year, Hawkes looked into an online escort agency for someone to finally get steamy with.
A man named Chayse caught her eye.
After asking ‘a million questions’ and coming to the conclusion that he would be respectful of her and her condition, she booked a two-hour session with the escort.
“I knew I was out of my depth with sexual knowledge and I felt completely overwhelmed with the expert that was standing in front of me,” Hawkes recalled to the BBC about her first encounter with Chayse.
“It was the first time I’d been naked in front of a man outside of a hospital.”
She said Chayse helped calm her nerves and “two hours later, we were the best of buddies.”
Hawkes has touted Chayse as the perfect partner to explore sex with and, across multiple steamy sessions, the pair have managed to iron out the kinks and awkwardness.
For example, she learned her legs can be ‘unpredictable’ when she’s in the mood to make love.
“They needed to be fastened to the bed beforehand, and then there’s no worry,”
Hawkes has continued to see Chayse on a regular basis and their time together has really boosted her confidence.
“My confidence has grown heaps, I’m happier than I’ve ever been,” she declared.
Yet, their raunchy rendezvous has come at a cost. Appointments with Chayse cost around $265 an hour.
Hawkes is now looking for someone to love without the hefty price tag.
With her newfound confidence, she is now browsing dating apps in the hopes of meeting the man of her dreams.
“I never thought I would go on dating apps and talk to men online, and now I’m doing it pretty much daily,” she said.
“I’m [now] looking for a Chayse replacement. Somebody who loves me and loves what I like and does everything for free!”
