There are, by one informed estimate, 7.7 billion people living on Planet Earth right now. It’s tough thinking that you as an individual matters in the throng, in the grand scheme of things. You are important, but not indispensable. Nobody is.
Maybe you do. Maybe you don’t. The Universe most often appears unconcerned to the plight of many, but is it? If I was to drop dead today, the world won’t come to a standstill, the Earth will keep turning, things will go on as usual.
You are important, but not indispensable. Nobody is.
It is only in our living and in our pursuits that we find some meaning and significance.
May the remaining two months of 2021 or the next year see you pursuing goals and things that will not only benefit yourself but others and the larger society.
What affects you affects others as well, and society can only get better if everybody gets better.
If you still have life in you, know that your existence and your work matters. The Universe does come to our aid sometimes, but you must be positioned at a place of meaning, working, making a difference, helping to push society forward. Your pursuits should not only be about yourself and yours.
The fig tree Christ cursed was not bearing fruits for anybody to eat and probably wasn’t providing shades to anyone or birds.
It’s never too late to start. Make meaning. Be the difference in somebody’s life. Pray for wisdom. Live your faith. We need you.
